Let the Sun Shine In!

Dr. Goza told us to put Katlyn in the sunlight today so we found a nice warm window and she LOVED it! She was so content and precious taking in that sun!

I love this photo. We can't get over how beautiful she is! God truly sent us a perfect little Angel!

1st Pediatrician Visit!

Today was Katlyn's 1st Dr. visit! Our pediatrician is Dr. Goza who was my pediatrician, too! We are so glad to know we already have the best pediatrician and nurses to take care of our sweet baby girl. Since I had allergy shots once a week growing up there it seems as if they are like my family. Of course, being new parents we had lots of questions and our camera in hand to catch all the action and the smiling faces, too. Her visit went great although we had to get her blood tested again for jaundice (you will see below I made Matt hold her for that!). We will find out more tomorrow, but she is growing(7lb, 2.5oz. today) and got a check of approval from the gang at Dr. Goza's!

Daddy doing a great job holding Katlyn for her bloodwork. Mommy didn't want to because she might cry. She didn't cry until the lady put the bandaids on her foot... tough little girl!

Pictures

First Impressions

Everyone has been enjoying Katlyn so much. I am attaching some new photos for everyone to see. Attached are photos of Lulu and Pop (Tracy's parents) and Granddad (Matt's Dad). The first impressions by all grandparents was overwhelming for everyone! They all got to find out Katlyn Dawn's name by seeing a blanket with her name embroidered on it. The new grandparents all proudly held her and talked to her, giving her their own words of wisdom. All of the new great aunts, great uncles, aunts and uncles were excited as well. They have all been wonderful and supporting of both Tracy and I as we learn to adjust to life without sleep (even though it is 100% worth it)! Tracy is sleeping as I write this for about the first time since Katlyn arrived!

I know Matt did a little update, but I wanted to do a little update as Mommy this morning, too! First of all, Katlyn is absolutely adorable and we have a hard time taking our eyes and hands off of her! She was born at 10:05PM on Tuesday, March 24th. She weighed 7 lbs, 7oz. and was 19inches long. She has quite a bit of hair and we are all trying to figure out if it is going to turn blond or stay brown. It has some curl to it and I can't wait to get the bows on her little head! She is a great baby and loves to be wrapped up like a little burrito. Matt is better at that than me, but I think I will improve with practice! She makes the sweetest little sounds and even her cry is beautiful to me! She is eating good now and keeping us on our toes...2 hours sure does fly by quickly!!! She is named after both of our Mom's and we are so proud of ourselves for keeping the secret from everyone. Katlyn is after my Mom (Katrina Lynnette) and Dawn after Matt's Mom. We have had the name since before we even knew she would be a girl and think it fits her well. She was checked this afternoon by the pediatrician and they said she is perfect...could you expect any less??? Matt is already the best Daddy and is taking care of Katlyn and I while we are still at the hospital. We get to come home Friday morning and are looking forward to it, although we have been blessed to have some absolutely wonderful Nurses and Doctors here at Piedmont Fayette. I hate to see each shift change! We have enjoyed all of our visitors and will be posting lots of photos very soon! I can't wait to get home and play dress up if she will let me! I love being a Mommy already and Matt and I are so thankful that God has blessed us with a happy and healthy little bundle of pure joy!

She is almost there!

Tracy is now over 4cm dialated. Doctor said active labor has begun. She is a trooper and has had no drugs. Hopefully we will be posting pictures soon.

Labor update

Tracy is still in labor! She is doing very well. Contractions are consistent (1.5 minutes apart) and she is 3cm dialated.

Update!

Thanks for checking in on us! I hope to get better at this and do it more frequently when the baby gets here...she's who we are all waiting on anyway, isn't she?!?!
I wanted to update everyone on where we are right now. We are now a little over 37 weeks. About 2 Fridays ago, we had our 36 week appointment and were surprised to see that my typically perfect blood pressure was up above where they like it and there was protein in my urine. On top of that my feet, toes, legs, and knees were swelling up like hams(on top of that I had gained 7 pounds in 2 weeks!!!), soooo they decided to have us come back on Wednesday and see what was happening. They discussed preeclampsia with us and how the baby is absolutely fine and not effected at all by it, just me...thank God! Wednesday I had even higher blood pressure, protein and blood in my urine and the swelling wasn't any better plus I had gained another 3 pounds in just that amount of time. They assured me it was all "water weight", but too much water weight. I had really tried to keep my feet up, but it's not that easy when you teach special needs preschool! They decided to have me rest a lot, try to keep my feet up, and do a 24 hour urine collection on Sunday and come back Monday afternoon. I know you all really wanted to read about urine, but that's just part of it, so, sorry! Did that, got a call that morning that I was supposed to have my blood drawn, as well, which I didn't realize was happening in the morning. I understood it was going to be done at our appt. that afternoon. Anyway, I went to the doctor to have my blood drawn "real quick" and return to school and got there for a full blown appointment. I wasn't very happy because Matt had taken half a day off to be at the afternoon appointment and on top of that, it is not nice to mess up a pregnant womans schedule!! I was pretty upset to say the least and couldn't get my phone to get service and call Matt. Luckily, I had called my Mom on my way there and she just happened to show up at the perfect time!!! She called Matt and he got there, too, which made me feel so much better! Due to the fact the blood pressure was still high, I still had protien in my urine and that my feet/legs were still swollen, the doctor took me out of work from here on out....without Matt even having to say a word, because he was convinced I did not need to be working after taking my blood pressure all weekend and seeing my feet grow bigger than ever. He is such a good doctor!! She also said she doesn't think we will make it to our due date of April 4th, but thinks we can get to about week 39. We go back to the Dr. on Friday for our 38 week appointment and will learn more! So, here I am on the couch with my feet up and nothing to do, but watch TV, play on the computer, wait for Matt to come home and think about this precious little baby who is coming our way very soon...sooner than we thought apparently! I know God will continue to watch over us and when he is finished with this little masterpiece moving around in here, then we will be a happy family!! Thanks for all your calls, emails, prayers, etc. We love you all!
